  • Where can I park?
    Parking surrounding MOCHA is either metered street parking or parking garages. If you prefer a parking garage, click here for options.
  • I am taking BART/public transportation, where do I go?
    Once you arrive at the 12th St. stop, head upstairs and take the A3 exit, Oakland City Center. Enter the plaza, use the stairs/escalator to the left of the fountain immediately in front of you. Once up the stairs continue straight, MOCHA will be on the left adjacent to escalators leading to the City Center Shops. If you need elevator access, please follow signs within BART. Exit elevator left onto Broadway. Cross 12th street, and enter Oakland City Center plaza (upper level). Head towards shops, turn right at Jamba Juice. You will see Core Kitchen Café, head to the rear of the building for elevator. Press A for lower level. Exit elevator to your left, exit garage left. MOCHA will be on the right side, adjacent to escalator. Here are some bus stops near MOCHA:
  • What is MOCHA's mask policy?
    Masks are encouraged but not required for all MOCHA patrons over the age of 2.
  • Does MOCHA still have Open Studio?
    Yes! We have weekly Open Studios every 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month. Click here for more information.
  • I want to showcase/exhibit my art in MOCHA, what does that process look like?

  • What is MOCHA's cancellation policy?

  • What Packages are available? (see website for party descriptions)
    Package A - up to 10 kids for $375 Package B - up to 15 kids for $475 Package C - up to 20 kids for $575 Additional are $20 per child
  • What is the Art Party cancellation policy?
    Full payment is required when booking an Art Party. Cancellation needs to be within seventy-two (72) hours of the scheduled date to receive credit to your account for a future event. Less than seventy-one hours there will be minus a $50 late cancellation fee. NO CASH/CREDIT CARD refund will be issued.
  • What time can I arrive to set up for our Art Party?
    You can arrive 30 minutes prior to your scheduled party time to set up.
  • What can I bring?
    Bring food, drinks, and/or cake. Please make sure these items are ready to eat and do require any “cooking” or “warming up”. Bring plates, napkins, utensils, etc. MOCHA does not provide these items. Beer and wine are permitted but please respect the museum as a children’s space.
  • How should we dress?
    We do have aprons available for children and adults but we say “come dressed to make a mess”!
  • Can we decorate?
    Keep decorations simple. A table cover for the food table and/or some balloons will suffice. We are an art museum and cannot have anything attached to the walls.
  • Where are you located?
    We are on the lower level of Oakland City Center, just steps from the 12th Street Bart Station (exit 13th street). MOCHA is located on the right hand side of the lower level of the plaza. If you use Google Maps to find us, you will get the best directions when you enter “Museum of Children's Art (1221 Broadway Ave LL-49)" into the search field. MOCHA is easily accessible by BART. We are located just outside the 12th Street City Center BART Station.
  • Where can we park?
    Parking in our area is mostly metered street parking and paid garages. The Ace Garage/Oakland City Center Parking is located at 525 14th Street.​ (Download the ACE Parking APP for discounted pre-paid parking ticket) Street and Garage Parking Hours Monday – Friday, 5am - 10pm Weekends, 8am - 6pm
  • Can we just drop off the kids?
    Supervision is required at our parties. At minimum the birthday celebrants' parents/guardians are responsible for the party goers. Parents/Guardians are encouraged to stay and assist their children with the art projects.
  • What is the Art Party Schedule?
    Art Parties are scheduled for two (2) hours. The four (4) art stations are set up and party goers are encouraged to move around to the different stations as they please. Food & Drinks are served at leisure and the birthday cake and song are usually reserved for the last 30 minutes of the party. Opening of presents onsite is optional, but must fit within the two (2) hour window. Additional time is charged at $100 per hour.
  • Where are you located?
    MOCHA camp takes place at 1221 Broadway, LL-Suite 49, 94612. We are on the lower level of Oakland City Center, just steps from the 12th Street Bart Station (exit 13th street).
  • Where can I park to drop off my camper?
    Parking in our area is mostly metered street parking and paid garages. The Ace garage/Oakland City Center Parking is located right next to the entrance of MOCHA, and is free for the first 10 mins. Ace Parking Management, Inc./Oakland City Center Parking: 525 14th St, Oakland, CA 94612 or 530 11th St. (free for the 1st 10 mins, $12 an hour)
  • What are the camp hours/schedule?
    CAMP HOURS: 8:00am - 5:30pm 8:00am - 8:45am: Morning drop off and Morning Activity 9:00am - 10:15am: Welcome, Community Agreements, Word Wall, Art Activities 10:15am - 10:30am: Snack Time/Free Play 10:30am -12:00pm: Hands-On Art Activities 12:00pm - 1:00pm: Lunch/Free Play 1:00pm - 1:10pm: Mid-Day Mindfulness 1:15pm - 2:20pm: Hands-on Art Activities 2:20pm - 2:35pm: Snack Time/Free Play 2:35pm - 3:10pm: Hands-On Art Activities 3:10pm - 3:30pm: Clean up and Reflection 3:30pm: Camper pick up & Transition to Aftercare 3:30pm - 5:30pm: Aftercare (Additional $25/day)
  • What does my camper need at camp?
    Bring a Lunch, 2 Snacks, & Reusable water bottle (an additional snack if in aftercare) Wear closed toed shoes, tennis shoes Label all clothing, backpacks, lunch boxes & water bottles DRESS for a MESS! Have a light jacket or sweatshirt for inclement weather
  • What are camp No Nos?
    Glassware (Bottles and lunch containers) Special or sentimental items Foods with nuts Electronics Sandals, Open-toed shoes, Crocs, Dressy Shoes
  • Can you dispense medication to my camper?
    We do not dispense medications to campers, you or a designated adult may come to the museum to dispense medication at the necessary time.
  • May I join my camper for lunch?
    Yes, please let the front desk receptionist know in the morning.

  • For onsite field trips, do you provide a tour of the museum along with the art activities?
    We do not offer tours for guests, however if you have questions about the artwork on display you can feel free to ask us during your visit.
  • If my class comes in early for the field trip and wants to walk around the space, are we allowed to do so?
    We would like it if people arrive promptly at the scheduled time of their field trip, as it gives us and our teaching staff time to set up the space for you and your class.

  • What are the rates for field trips?
    Pre-K - $175 (up to 25 students) K-12 - $175 (up to 30 students) Offsite - $225 Custom - $225
  • What are the times we can schedule for field trips?
    Monday - Friday 9:00am - 10:30am 11:00am - 12:30pm 1:00pm - 2:30pm
  • Can my school schedule two field trips for the same day, but with different groups?
    Yes, you can schedule two field trips on the same day, we would have to stagger the two groups times so MOCHA Staff can have time to reset the space.
  • My class is looking to do a field trip at MOCHA, do you offer wheelchair access?
    Yes, there is an elevator adjacent to the museum you can use to get to the museum. If you are using the parking structure, there is a wheelchair accessible ramp on the side of the stairs.
