Workshops

MOCHA's Professional Development workshops help educators learn new ways to create engaging learning environments by bringing art into the classroom.

We offer a range of workshops and related servcies that can be tailored to the needs of an individual school site, an entire school district or a community organization. Workshops can be paired with coaching and/or lesson modeling to enhance the training experience.

Workshops are hands-on and process-oriented, and cover such themes as:

• The Alphabet of Art (line, color, shape, texture, space)
• Visual Journaling (art and writing, collage, bookmaking)
• Integrating Art with Writing (general and ESL)
• Shape Studies (geometry and patterns)
• The Art of Nature (biology, earth science, astronomy)
• Exploring Cultures (masks, puppets, textiles, architecture)

Art for Educators

October 1–3
Friday, 4–7:30 pm | Saturday and Sunday, 9–5pm

This three-day hands-on workshop is for teachers, parents and youth development professionals who want to learn how to integrate art into classroom and community programs. This is also an excellent workshop for artists interested in developing their teaching skills and linking their practice to classroom environments.

Absolutely no previous art experience is necessary for this workshop.

This workshop includes:

• hands-on art activities with a wide variety of visual media
• skill-building in teaching art to students
• information on the California Visual and Performing Arts Framework
• tools for using visual art as a point of entry for core curriculum

$250 in advance

$275 at the door

10% discount for educator members

University credit available at an additional fee

MOCHA charges a $20 administrative fee per cancellation. MOCHA will provide credit (no refunds) for any cancellation within two weeks of the start of the workshop and half credit (no refunds) for any cancellation within 48 hours of the start of the workshop.
