EXHIBITION

Paintbrush Diplomacy: Sports and Games
october 30, 2007 - january 4, 2008

This exhibit of international children's artwork depicts games and 
sports from diverse cultures.  This exceptional art helps us learn 
how others play in their leisure time, from a quiet chess game to a 
rowdy soccer match. These works are part of the collection of 
Paintbrush Diplomacy, which facilitates exchanges of art and personal 
stories between children across the globe.

ART CONTEST AND EXHIBITION
ReCreate
november 15-december 16 | jack london square

ReCreate is a recycled art competition and exhibition held in MOCHA's 
temporary storefront gallery in Jack London Square. Student artists 
are invited to create artwork using discarded or reused materials and 
to compete for prizes. The competition and exhibition is open to all 
student artists (grades K-12) in Oakland schools.  ReCreate is 
sponsored by the City of Oakland Public Works Agency, in honor of 
America Recycles Day. Contact the MOCHA registrar at (510) 465-8770 
x308, registrar at mocha.org for an entry form or more information. 
Entry deadline is November 11.

SPECIAL WORKSHOP
ReCreate Workshop
november 4 | noon-4 p.m. | free

Children will convert trash into treasure, then enter their fabulous 
creations in the ReCreate art contest and exhibition.

SATURDAY STORIES
Snowflake Bentley by Jacqueline Briggs Martin
november 3 | 1-4 p.m.| free

The first Saturday of every month, MOCHA links literacy with art, 
featuring children's stories read out loud followed by artmaking 
based on the themes of these captivating tales. This month, we'll 
explore the wondermen and mystery of snowflakes, then create our own 
hexagonal shapes and designs. Saturday Stories are sponsored by Target.

FAMILY EXTRAVAGANZA
Fourth Annual Mr. Potato Head Beauty Pageant
november 17 | 1-4 p.m. | $7 per child

All spuds, no duds! Everyone in the family will take this garden 
variety vegetable and cook up a stylin' potato personality. Each 
character will be judged for wild extravagance, zany eccentricity and 
gorgeous glamour. All ages welcome and parents are encouraged to 
create. It's a wacky competition where everyone wins!

FALL CAMP
Two, Four . . . Or More!
November 19-21 | $65 per day | 10% discount for members

Register now for daylong camp studios, held November 19-21.  MOCHA 
camp features fun and engaging art activities for kids grades K-6. 
Each day we will create, birds and beasts that walk, crawl and travel 
with multiple appendages.
