SATURDAY STORIES
Tubby the Tuba by Paul Tripp
december 1 | 1-2 p.m.| free

The first Saturday of every month, MOCHA links 
literacy with art, featuring children's stories 
read out loud followed by artmaking based on the 
themes of these captivating tales. This month, 
we’ll listen to the story of Tubby, who never 
gets to play the melody. Then we’ll paint and 
draw to music. Saturday Stories are sponsored by Target.

DECEMBER WEEKEND WONDERS
Cray-Pas Pastel Workshop
december 2, | 1–4pm | $7
Learn special techniques to draw with pastels. 
See how to blend colors and develop subtle hues 
for creating shadows and depth.  Then enter your 
finished piece into the Cray-Pas Wonderful, 
Colorful World Contest 2008.  Plus join our 
Sakura/Cray-Pas raffle and win your own set of pastels and Gelly Roll pens.

Shine your Light!
December 8 & 9 | 1–4pm | $7
Let us help you make the perfect candleholder for 
your winter celebrations, be it a menorah, 
candelabra or Kinara, using wood, tin and paints.

Wrap It Up!
December 15 & 16 | 1–4pm | $7
Design handmade personal gift bags and wrapping 
paper for the holidays.  Create your own cards and decorations too.

Hanging Around!
December 22 | 1–4pm | $7
Create winter ornaments, wreaths and decorations 
to liven your happy homestead.

Home Sweet Home!
December 23 | 1–4pm | $7
Build candy cottages and cookie castles using 
sugary frosting paste.  A holiday treat.

Ring in the New
December 30 | 1–4pm | $7
Make plenty of noisemakers and party hats for 
your Rockin' New Year's celebrations.

WINTER CAMP
International Art on the Menu
December 26–28, 2007 and December 31, Jan 2–4, 
2008 | $65 per day (10% discount for MOCHA members)

Day-long camp studios featuring fun and engaging 
art activities for kids grades K-6. Scholarship 
application deadline: December 1, 2007

EXHIBITION
Paintbrush Diplomacy: Sports and Games
through january 4, 2008

This exhibit of international children's artwork 
depicts games and sports from diverse 
cultures.  This exceptional art helps us learn 
how others play in their leisure time, from a 
quiet chess game to a rowdy soccer match. These 
works are part of the collection of Paintbrush 
Diplomacy, which facilitates exchanges of art and 
personal stories between children across the globe.

ART CONTEST AND EXHIBITION
Re-Create
through december 16 | jack london square

Re-Create is a recycled art competition and 
exhibition held in MOCHA's temporary storefront 
gallery in Jack London Square. Student artists 
are invited to create artwork using discarded or 
reused materials and to compete for prizes. The 
competition and exhibition is open to all student 
artists (grades K-12) in Oakland 
schools.  Re-Create is sponsored by the City of 
Oakland Public Works Agency, in honor of America 
Recycles Day. Contact the MOCHA registrar at

entry form or more information.
