MOCHA Coffee Club
May 5 | 11 a.m.-Noon (and every first Thursday)

MOCHA parents get a group of their own! Meet other parents, exchange 
ideas and discuss topics related to artmaking with young children. On 
May 3, guest Lee Eisman of East Bay Moms will facilitate a discussion 
on choosing the best childcare program for your child. Coffee and 
light refreshments provided!

SATURDAY STORIES

How the Leopard Got His Spots and Other Just So Stories
may 5 | 1-4 p.m.| free

The first Saturday of every month, MOCHA links literacy with art, 
featuring children's stories read out loud followed by artmaking 
based on the themes of these captivating tales. On May 5, we'll read 
Rudyard Kipling's "How the Leopard Got His Spots" and other Just So 
Stories then make our own striped, polka-dotted and colorful 
critters! Saturday Stories are sponsored by Target.

SCHOOL'S OUT MOCHA'S IN

One Day Wonder Camp and Free Drop-in Art
may 25 | 8:30-3:45 (camp)/$60 (10% discount for members) | 10 a.m.-5 
p.m. (drop-in)/free

We have two art-filled options on Memorial Day! Register for our One 
Day Wonder Camp to make pop-up puppets or drop in for free art 
activities with our on-site artist. To sign up for camp, contact the

WEEKEND EXTRAVAGANZA

Up the Flagpole
april 22| 1-4 p.m. | $5 per child | 10% discount for members

Weekend fun for the whole family! Enjoy yards of creative fun as you 
produce your own personal banner.  Design a flag or pennant that 
shouts out your own style.  Collage with satins, velvets and 
glittering gold lames to produce art that you will be proud to hang 
from the rooftops.

EXHIBITION

Children's Art: Childcare and the Home Front, 1943-1966
April 17- June 3

During World War II, with many fathers away fighting and mothers 
working in the shipyards, the young children of Richmond were cared 
for in childcare centers funded by the Kaiser shipyards and the U.S. 
Maritime Commission.  These 14 centers were trailblazers in an era 
well before childcare outside the home became the norm. This historic 
exhibit, on loan from the Richmond Museum of History, documents an 
important period in American history through artwork created by the 
children who attended these centers.
