Once Upon a Time: Children's book Illustrators, then & now
works by MOCHA's teaching artists reveal how children influence their
personal art and how their artistry can influence the children they teach.

opening january 13 | reception: 6:30-8:30pm
oakland school for the arts | habitat
HABITAT showcases the work of OSA's visual arts students. resorting to
personal experience and exploration, the artists have formulated peculiar
spaces of playful and imaginative content, with a humorous and resourceful
sensibility.
opening january 14 | reception: noon-3pm
oakland high school | the adventures of little scrappy
this multi-media features artwork by students from the advanced art class.
these exceptional students work in many disciplines including painting and
photography
family extravaganza
henna hands
january 28 | 1pm-4pm | $5 per participant
mocha joins with the oakland public library's "One City, One Book"
campaign. While kids are creating henna hands, Mary Weinstein (librarian)
will lead a book discussion for adults on "Mistress of Spices" by Chitra
Diviaruni

Professional Development
the art of the project approach
January 20-22 | 4-9 pm on Fri/10-5pm on Sat & Sun | $250 per participant
In this three day, interactive, hands-on workshop, teachers are guided
through the three phases of project work and learn how to integrate art
authentically into all subjects.
