ART MARKET at MOCHA
FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
Day & Time
Saturday, December 3rd
10:00am – 3:00pm
This holiday season we are hosting our second annual Art Market, a pop-up art market where local artists, artisans, and vendors come together to give the Bay Area an alternative shopping experience. Help preserve the local arts scene and acquire original works to share with those closest to you. Also, there are many chances to treat your self to photography, clothing, jewelry, paintings, shields, accessories & more!
The Museum of Children’s Arts (MOCHA) has been creating a space for children, parents, educators, artists and administrators to engage in the principles of art for 27 years. We strengthen our community by nurturing young people’s creativity, curiosity and educational success through hands-on arts programming in our museum, school and community sites. Oakland is our home.
MOCHA employs over 20 Teaching Artists who bring art into the lives of over 25,000 young people throughout the East Bay annually. Kaya Fortune, a MOCHA Teaching Artist and local icon, approached MOCHA with the idea of opening up our space to local artists and artisans as a way to showcase the talents and works of the burgeoning Oakland art scene. Over 10 MOCHA Teaching Artists committed to produce work to be sold, and the Art Market was born.
To contrast the city and it’s art markets, our Art Market seeks to create an opportunity to have an affordable and meaningful experience which rewards the people that provide hard work and creative energy to our community. We are putting out a call for all to participate. And there is still space for more.
Oakland is the soul of the Bay. As fast as the look of Oakland is changing, it is important to embrace the feel of Oakland by honoring the people who contribute to our culture through the arts. This is a chance to support Oakland’s artists that influence the lives of so many in our neighborhoods and an excellent opportunity to build on that community and collective thinking.
WE HAVE SPACE FOR VENDORS! It is FREE to have a table to sell art on that day.
